Building Excellence in Cleanroom Testing – Klimer Team Achieves Comprehensive CTCB-I Certification
Klimer Štirn & Co d.n.o. has reached an important milestone in its commitment to technical excellence and internationally recognized competence in cleanroom testing and certification.
Following the successful implementation of the first CTCB-I (Cleanroom Testing and Certification Board International) certification programme in Slovenia, a total of 18 Klimer professionals now hold internationally recognized CTCB-I certification.
This includes:
- 12 certified professionals at Professional Level,
- 6 certified professionals at Associated Level.
As a result, virtually the entire active cleanroom testing and certification team of Klimer now holds internationally recognized certification, demonstrating the company’s long-term commitment to competence, quality and continuous professional development.
This achievement represents a significant milestone not only for Klimer, but also for the development of cleanroom testing and contamination control expertise in Slovenia and the wider region.
First CTCB-I Certification Programme Hosted in Slovenia
The first CTCB-I (Cleanroom Testing and Certification Board International) certification programme in Slovenia was hosted by Klimer Štirn & Co d.n.o. and delivered under the leadership of the Irish Cleanroom Society (ICS), an active member organization of CTCB-I.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of internationally recognized CTCB-I experts, including Conor Murray (Ireland), Chris Delaney (Ireland) and Jaroslaw Kulak (Poland).
The successful implementation of the programme represents an important milestone for the development of cleanroom testing and contamination control expertise in Slovenia and the wider region, providing local professionals with access to internationally harmonized competence assessment and certification.
A significant contribution to this achievement was made by MSc Nataša Štirn and Sašo Štirn, who previously obtained their CTCB-I Certification in Dublin, Ireland, and have since become active members of the international CTCB-I certification community.
Their involvement, together with the growing international engagement of the Slovenian Cleanroom Society (SCS), contributed to the successful introduction of the CTCB-I programme in Slovenia. In 2026, SCS also became an official member of CTCB-I, creating opportunities for future cooperation in the field of internationally recognized cleanroom testing certification and professional competence development within Slovenia and the wider region.
What is CTCB-I?
CTCB-I (Cleanroom Testing and Certification Board International) was established to promote globally harmonized competence requirements for professionals performing cleanroom testing, qualification and certification activities.
The programme is based on internationally recognized standards and guidelines, including:
- ISO 14644 – Cleanrooms and Associated Controlled Environments,
- EU GMP Annex 1,
- IEST Recommended Practices,
- Good Engineering Practices for contamination control.
The certification process evaluates both theoretical knowledge and practical competence, ensuring that certified personnel are capable of performing cleanroom testing activities in accordance with internationally accepted requirements.
Certification demonstrates that an individual possesses the necessary knowledge, practical skills and professional judgement to conduct testing, evaluate results and prepare technical reports supporting qualification and compliance activities.
Professional Certification
The Professional Certification is intended for experienced cleanroom testing specialists who:
- regularly perform the full range of cleanroom performance tests,
- possess a minimum of two years of practical experience,
- are responsible for testing activities and technical reporting.
The practical examination includes:
- airflow velocity measurements,
- volumetric airflow measurements,
- airflow uniformity testing,
- HEPA filter integrity testing (leak testing),
- airborne particle concentration measurements,
- preparation and evaluation of professional test reports.
Successful completion of the Professional Certification confirms an advanced level of competence and the ability to independently perform, evaluate and interpret cleanroom qualification tests.
During the Slovenian certification programme, all Professional Level candidates successfully passed the examination, demonstrating a high level of technical expertise and practical competence.
Associated Certification
The Associated Certification is intended for professionals who are beginning their careers in cleanroom testing or who participate in qualification activities under supervision.
The programme covers:
- principles of cleanroom technology,
- HVAC fundamentals,
- ISO 14644 cleanroom classification,
- airborne particle measurements,
- HEPA filter integrity testing,
- fundamental validation and qualification principles.
The Associated Certification confirms a solid theoretical understanding of cleanroom technology and provides the foundation for future professional development.
All candidates participating in the Associated Certification programme successfully completed the examination requirements.
Investing in People and Competence
Cleanroom testing and certification play a critical role in ensuring compliance, product quality and patient safety in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and high-tech manufacturing environments.
As regulatory expectations continue to evolve, particularly following the implementation of EU GMP Annex 1, the competence of testing personnel has become increasingly important.
Klimer has therefore made a strategic commitment to investing in its people and ensuring that technical knowledge is continuously maintained and independently verified through internationally recognized certification programmes.
The successful certification of virtually the entire active testing team reflects not only individual achievement but also the company’s broader commitment to delivering high-quality cleanroom qualification, certification and contamination control services.
Commitment to International Standards
For Klimer, certification is not simply an examination result. It represents a commitment to maintaining the highest level of technical competence, professional integrity and service quality.
Through active participation in international organizations, technical committees, professional working groups and certification programmes, Klimer continues to contribute to the harmonization and advancement of cleanroom testing practices both nationally and internationally.
The achievement of comprehensive CTCB-I certification across the company’s testing team further strengthens Klimer’s position as a trusted partner for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and high-tech industries operating in highly regulated environments where contamination control, cleanroom performance and regulatory compliance are essential.
By investing in internationally recognized professional certification, Klimer continues to strengthen its role as one of the leading cleanroom qualification and certification organizations in the region and demonstrates its dedication to supporting the highest standards of quality, compliance and technical excellence.
